Helping VA Employees Access and Participate in VILT Courses

Challenge

Training delivery by Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT), as opposed to traditional in-person trainings, can provide considerable cost savings to VA. However, participants often face barriers when initiating VILT participation, in many cases due to technological difficulties.

Solution

VA Learning University (VALU) contracted Atlas Research to provide training to familiarize VA employees with the VILT format, and provide solutions to common challenges. The Atlas Team worked with subject matter experts to define the learning objectives and course structure; drafted a specification document and solicited expert feedback; and employed sound online learning principles to a develop a web-based training course.

Result

Atlas is working with VALU’s Career and Employee Development Directorate to develop a web-based training focused on how to participate in Virtual-Led Instructor Trainings (VILT). The in-depth course development process involves coordination with VALU and VA experts to develop and test an effective, user-friendly, and compliant training course that meets the objectives set forth in the design specification.
