Beth Martinez Mahan

Ms. Elizabeth Martinez Mahan has more than 25 years of experience in health care, hospital operations, and issues affecting Veterans, both as a former Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) health systems specialist and as a consultant. She holds a faculty appointment with Georgetown University’s School of Nursing and Health Studies, where she serves as Adjunct Professor of Health Information Systems. Ms. Martinez Mahan embraces all issues surrounding Veterans, families, and caregivers; is a member of key boards; and volunteers her time in support of Easter Seals, The Elizabeth Dole Foundation, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) and VA / Disabled American Veteran’s Winter Sports Clinic.

Ms. Martinez Mahan serves as Executive Vice President for Atlas Research where she works across the VA enterprise, strategizing with leaders and staff throughout the organization on a wide range of transformation initiatives to improve health and benefits services, effectively manage resources (e.g., information technology, personnel, and facilities), and diffuse best practices and innovative solutions into VA’s operations. Among her leadership engagements, Ms. Martinez Mahan serves as the program director and customer service liaison on the 5-year $112M Project Management and Lean Six Sigma Subject Matter Experts for the Office of Policy and Planning Enterprise Program Management Office (PMLSS) Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA). Atlas and its teaming partners have been awarded over 50 Task Orders (TOs) with over 300 staff deployed since 2015 that support a wide range of VA modernization initiatives to include Direct Scheduling for Audiology and Optometry Services, Diffusion of Excellence, Call Center Transformation, Compensation and Pension Examinations Process Improvements, Hospital Activations, human centered design, and program management in the Veteran Experience Office (VEO).

Prior to joining Atlas in 2014, Ms. Martinez Mahan served as a principal of the Health Operations team at Booz Allen Hamilton where she rose to leadership over a period of 16 years. During her tenure, she led a study for the VA Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Enterprise System Management Office (ESM) around the deployment of technology enhancements to VHA’s health care and case management systems. She also led a pilot initiative of the Capital Asset Realignment for Enhanced Services (CARES) Commission, and supported the Wounded Warrior Diagnostics project focused on enhancing transition support. Before joining Booz Allen Hamilton, Ms. Martinez Mahan worked at Systems Resources Corporation and PHP Healthcare Corporations.
