Atlas Research Awarded Evidence-Based Quality Improvement Project with Veterans Affairs Women’s Health Services

April 5, 2018

Atlas Research was awarded a new $1.3 million contract to continue its work for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Women’s Health Services (WHS) in FY19. WHS’s aim is to ensure all women Veterans have access to timely, equitable, high-quality, comprehensive health care services in a sensitive and safe environment.

Using existing data, along with input from health care, VA, and quality improvement Subject Matters Experts (SMEs), WHS aims to improve the current and future state of care for women Veterans by facilitating an Evidence-Based Quality Improvement (EBQI) initiative at select VA health care systems across the country. EBQI is a structured, systematic approach to developing multilevel-partnered quality improvement (QI) strategies, uniquely adapted to each system’s organizational priorities, needs, and resources.

“Working with WHS is such a great honor,” said Atlas CEO Robin Portman, “and EBQI in particular, presents a truly unique opportunity to support WHS’ mission to raise the standard of care for all women by leveraging Atlas’ expertise and passion for data-driven, innovative solutions.”

Atlas has been providing ongoing support to implement this EBQI initiative to improve services delivered to women Veterans since 2016. With this new award, Atlas will continue working with facilities to create and implement structured QI projects that enhance care and services for women Veterans.

“We're very excited to continue working with WHS,” said Dr. Julia Rollison, Atlas Project Director, “to encourage evidence-based improvement through lean methodologies at additional VA facilities next year to better meet the needs of women Veterans."
