WASHINGTON, DC – Atlas Research’s Chief Healthcare Transformation Officer and Senior Executive Vice President, Dr. Kenneth W. Kizer, to receive the Association of American Medical Colleges David E. Rogers Award sponsored by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
The David E. Rogers Award recognizes a medical school faculty member who has made major contributions to improving the health and health care of the American people. Immediately prior to joining Atlas Research on July 1, 2019, Dr. Kizer was a Distinguished Professor in the School of Medicine and Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, as well as Director of the Institute for Population Health Improvement, at the University of California, Davis.
“I am deeply honored to receive this award and very grateful to have been able to contribute to transforming health care delivery and enhancing public health over the years,” said Dr. Kizer. “I thank the AAMC for this recognition and the University of California Davis for nominating me to receive the award. And while I appreciate the recognition, there is still so much left to do to reform health care in America so that all Americans get the care they deserve and the care that our caregivers are capable of providing. I look forward to the work ahead.”
Dr. Kizer’s vast experience as a health care reformer includes engineering the internationally acclaimed transformation of the Veterans Healthcare System in the late 1990s, raising health care quality across the nation as founding President and CEO of the National Quality Forum, materially improving public health in California and serving as an elected member of both the National Academy of Medicine and the National Academy of Public Administration.
Awards will be presented on Sunday, Nov. 10, at Learn Serve Lead 2019: The AAMC Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Arizona.
