John Jacocks, MD, MTM&H

Director

Dr. John Jacocks, MD, MTM&H, a respected retired U.S. Army and Department of Defense (DoD) Corporate-level medical officer, is a Director at Atlas Research. He is responsible for developing, coordinating, and presenting medical training to ensure clients experience professional medical growth. Dr. Jacocks also leads medical system organization and medical facility furnishing across client projects. He helps medical providers achieve advanced medical certification by providing mobile, mini-medical residencies, specializing in women’s health. Dr. Jacocks is currently the lead physician instructor on the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Mini-Medical Residency for Rural Providers on Women’s Health Topics.

Dr. Jacocks served for over 24 years on active duty in the U.S. Army as an engineer and medical corps officer with a diverse set of operational, special operations, and military health system responsibilities. He also has more than 30 years’ experience providing direct patient care and advisement on health care system improvement with federal health agencies, military health systems, and Veterans organizations.

Dr. Jacocks recently retired from civil service after serving as the Senior Medical Officer at the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), overseeing the medical aspects of the Agency’s efforts to keep the DoD and our allies safe from weapons of mass destruction (WMD).  

Dr. Jacocks is a combat Veteran who has deployed to multiple overseas locations throughout Africa, Southwect and East Asia, and Central America.  He served as a group surgeon with 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), a flight surgeon with Joint Special Operations Command, and a task force surgeon with 5th General Hospital supporting Operation Desert Storm, where he was awarded the Air Medal. He served as the National Capital Region Flight Surgeon, managing aviation medicine services for five military commands for the DeWitt Health Care Network, overseeing the medical transition of active duty service members into the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) system.   

Dr. Jacocks is board-certified in family medicine, with a deep practice in occupational settings.  He graduated from the United States Military Academy and completed his medical studies at Tulane University.  His military qualifications include airborne, air assault, and Special Forces tab; he holds a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
