Atlas Research Announces Free Webinar for Caregivers of Veterans: “Beyond the Blues: When Sadness Becomes Depression”

October 29, 2014

Caregivers of Veterans experience symptoms of depression at a higher rate than the general population. Facing constant demands to help a family member with physical and behavioral challenges can weigh heavily on one’s own health, both physical and mental. To support these caregivers, Atlas Research is co-hosting a webinar, Beyond the Blues: When Sadness Becomes Depression

This session will help caregivers recognize the signs and symptoms of depression related to caregiving, understand available treatment options, and learn specific tools to help manage stress. Participants will hear from experts Christina Irving, LCSW and Leah Eskenazi, MSW, from Family Caregiver Alliance, and Military Caregiver and Elizabeth Dole Fellow Debbie Sprague.

This is the fourth webinar of the 2014 Military Caregiving Webinar Series and it will take place on Thursday, November 13 at 1:00 p.m. Central/2:00 p.m. Eastern. Participants can register at www.easterseals.com/carewebinar-reg. Real-time captioning will be provided and transcriptions and recordings will be archived and available at www.easterseals.com/carewebinar.

Atlas Research and Easter Seals Dixon Center work to strengthen communities to enable our Veterans and their families to thrive where they live by building partnerships, sharing innovations, and connecting those who have served to supports and services. The Elizabeth Dole Foundation focuses on assisting the organizations and agencies that serve caregivers: spouses, parents, and others responsible for an injured Veteran. Other partners in the webinar series include the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving, Caregiver Action Network, National Alliance for Caregiving, Family Caregiver Alliance, and the United Service Organizations.

The first three installments in the 2014 Military Caregiving Webinar Series reached close to 400 caregivers and professionals who work with caregivers. These archived webinars are available at www.easterseals.com/carewebinar. Past topics include caregiver resilience, workplace discrimination, and asking for help.
