Health Information Technology (HIT) is increasingly viewed as one of the most promising tools for improving the overall quality, safety, and efficiency of the health care delivery system.  Public and private health care systems are not only looking for ways to incorporate health information technologies into their patient care programs and administrative processes, but also for ways to use HIT tools to foster collaboration among health care providers and to connect rural or remote patients to health care professionals.

Leadership & Experience
Atlas Research brings to bear a unique combination of health care expertise and strategic partnerships with leading HIT systems integrators to improve the implementation of Health Information Technology, as well as promote the meaningful use of HIT tools.  The Atlas team has engaged in a number noteworthy  HIT projects that demonstrate our expertise in this sphere.  Key projects include:

  • Developing an Emergency Department Situational and Tactical Awareness Tool, used to monitor emergency department capacity across multiple health systems, for the Department of Health and Human Services;
  • Creating a Knowledge Management System for the Department of Veteran Affairs Office of Rural Health;
  • Connecting health care providers across large geographic areas through the development of the Rural Veterans Provider Network, a web-based networking and social media tool for the South Central VA Health Care Network (VISN 16);
  • Designing and implementing strategies to enhance eligible enrollment in the VHA Personal Health Record (My HealtheVet); and
  • Serving in various roles with leading organizations promoting HIT, including the eHealth Initiative, the National eHealth Collaborative, the American Health Information Community, the HIMSS’ Institute for e-Health Policy, and the American Telemedicine Association.
